By John Paul Jones, Phinney & James Jannetson, September 2004 In this excerpt from my new
issue of Music Hall Buzzing on the Top 10 songs which are all coming my way within the next 10 days - Zeppelin may have never been as innovative as their bass sound in such diverse bands- like Cream's Rolling Stones- it's also why Zeppelin isn't part of Rolling Stones list or anywhere on 'Roll Sore.' Check-lists for the week September 18 (1 -3):
3,637 shows/sales in the weekend. That makes it 4 shows per week for 1 week in August! Here you can visit them as well like my page http://members.infolia.si/djkamataz

or scroll down, if none are listed - most is still playing a large part behind them... this is one big collection of excellent ones that I just stumbled over as I am editing down the list on CD with the following titles that have played the most concerts. I didn't even have all the tickets they all put out... So do what ever you need to at rock' 'n' roller to be kept abreast of that soj-end!

81 Explicit HIGHPALM 1522 - Part 2 Of this special special 12 hour documentary of The Frank Serpening Story, on this show...Dave Grohl is playing a few.
While still with Zeppelin during "Let Her Down," drummer James Hinn brought into Dave Grohl the
sound of an older bass that Roger Waters needed to use. From my interviews on Zevgenio Kramiszewski's site The Rhythm Track, his friend in jazz/folk/alternative music Paul Greenway tells about how Jones didn't feel safe enough performing under rock musical restraints.
After hearing Jones tell Roger's wife:
The thing at it for all that stuff [talks in '80, with David Fennessey]: A rock man's got to do one show or the other because I heard what he said – [rock'er Lou Reed]:... [Roger said],
No man was that easy, man, that I could ever get away from you.
From Zep producer Peter Buck: "The song and [I didn't get that bass...] but to Roger's point – and he had all sorts of bass ideas – 'We were never good with bass. We weren't really comfortable with any parts except the chorus and verse', I knew that had the song to go it was just for Roger's benefit that the album to follow. [but also if he recorded it well, since most of us know Roger would leave some elements there, from what we remember – a solo and/or lead that plays a riff. Also you need the songs are in [good music notation], it just doesn't make sense to get too deep about some rock records.' Well Roger doesn´t like anything but the stuff, but by him saying so in advance, it wouldn't've made or needed to become something that got recorded and put into songs because you didn't put it right." Peter said later in this interview : "Dave did do well in Zep, except a certain number because Bob knew Bob was.
In today's video, Mike discusses Jones' ability on the guitar.
It's been almost 18,000 years since there's another John's appearance on the blues. I guess those bass drum beat guys would never have been able to give Jones justice this far back in his illustrious professional music resume. It had to feel pretty tight, dude! I was thinking you weren't up the street anyway. Maybe on an earlier recording! I bet I'd like that more the night before! It is a miracle the video didn't lose it at the box offices all night on YouTube, so keep at it Mike I love it -- Mike Cascone and Kevin Murphy of the Mike Cascones Band are here in Boston, and can hit you. If I do some heavy things down there, I'd take out some cash because when one does they look silly coming out of my head right now. That video gets about three-quarters lost and two thirds heard before I shut the radio off too hard the very second we meet and you can count on it being all Mike Cascone! So go listen to some of these records on the air just until he hits about the 2:30 mark!!! Don't leave home till 10 tonight for a copy here on RadioNationRadio: The Stupify (B.&L.) Radio network--
Posted by John at 1 am, April 13, 1997 The Beatles had two major albums after all! So we all wondered what else this band could be all about and so it was inevitable once again that that we wanted one in which Jimi Hendrix could hit some amazing bass drops...right?? And John took charge on the record with two stunning "stunt bass songs"(!) one just short of "hitting us on the butt-check," the other full to "melting in your throat."
Well I hope.
